Drive Like a Woman, Shop Like a Man
“The perfect budget busting book . . . you’re only four months and 16 little chapters away from saving a fortune, reducing your carbon footprint and a whole new practical you.” Read the full RTE review here
‘John Gormley, please distribute a copy of this book to every home…If only one reader in hundreds observed some of Mulvihill’s commandments, the impact on our health, well-being, and the economy, would be immense.’ Richard Collins, Irish Examiner
‘This is a fantastic guide to being a keen, mean green machine…This book is the perfect present for anyone with even the palest streak of green in their make up.’ Lucille Redmond, Evening Herald
“An entertaining, easy read filled with loads of genuinely good ideas which will save you a packet.” Conor Pope, Irish Times consumer champion
Drive like a Woman, Shop like a Man is packed with 101 easy, practical tips for ‘eco-nomical’ living that can be done immediately – without the need for costly equipment or installation – and the no-nonsense explanations will hopefully convince any sceptic. For instance, discover how understanding a little about neuroscience and how our brain works, can help you plan your week and your shopping, to save you time and money.
Several of the tips were inspired by information I picked up while working as a journalist (the neuroscience behind how we take decisions, and the chemistry of shampoo manufacture, for instance). This is also how I try to live at home (with my long-suffering partner). So, all of the tips are tried and tested.
This is both a green guide to sustainable living and, I hope, a timely guide with tips on how to beat the recession. Including, how to help your bank save money. Although, little did I realise when I wrote that tip in early 2008 , just how timely it would be!
The 101 tips cover everything from motoring and travel, to holidays and gifts, from cooking and shopping, to cleaning and even reincarnation.
“What are we like — throwing out half the food we buy, going around our houses barely clad and the heating up at max, ignoring the fact that this is the windiest country in Europe and using the clothes dryer? Mary Mulvihill is the woman to put you right — It’s green to be mean!” Éanna ní Lamhna
Take one of these tips every day, and you’ll save the cover price in minutes – one tip alone could save you €500 a year. Recipes included!
Available at all good bookshops, price €8.99
